Mushroom Exhibit

Discover the world of fungi at the Mushroom Exhibit at The Woodlands at Phillips, an educational exhibit celebrating the history, science, and culture of mushrooms in the heart of Kennett Square, the Mushroom Capital of the World.

Our FREE self-guided exhibit invites visitors of all ages to learn about mushroom cultivation, the health and dietary benefits of mushrooms, their culinary uses, and the history of our fourth-generation family mushroom business.

Throughout the exhibit, visitors will find informational plaques covering mushroom growing, the history of the mushroom industry, and the important role fungi play in nature. Visitors can also watch a continuously playing 20-minute video that explores the mushroom-growing process, from cultivation and harvesting to the importance of mushrooms in Kennett Square.

Meet the Mushrooms

The Mushroom Exhibit is home to Meet the Mushrooms, a monthly program led by our resident mycologist.

Each month, our resident mycologist highlights a different mushroom variety, sharing information about its identification, biology, ecology, history, and role in nature. Visitors will discover what makes each mushroom unique and learn more about the diversity and importance of fungi.

Check our events page for more information!
